See which players we think will start for their clubs this weekend
Aston Villa v Man City predicted line-ups
Aston Villa: Johan Manzambi faces a late fitness test after missing midweek duties, while Aaron Wan-Bissaka has joined Matteo Ruggeri among the absentees. Head coach Unai Emery also suggested some other unnamed players were “in some pain” after Wednesday’s European win against Viking. Ian Maatsen has not played since mid-September, so Tyrone Mings may be needed at left-back. Alysson and Ibrahim Mbaye both impressed in midweek – their inclusion might hinge on Manzambi.
Man City: Erling Haaland is “100 per cent available” for this after sitting out of UEFA Champions League duties on Tuesday, but Mateo Kovacic, Matheus Nunes and Nico O’Reilly will all require late fitness tests. Antoine Semenyo is out until December. Phil Foden scored a midweek hat-trick and will hope to retain his spot, but competition is fierce and knowing who manager Enzo Maresca will rotate in or out is tricky.
Arsenal v Everton predicted line-ups
Arsenal: Arsenal will be without Bukayo Saka for some time after his injury picked up midweek. With Christos Tzolis still out, that leaves Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze as the most obvious wing options unless manager Mikel Arteta hands Max Dowman a start. Jurrien Timber starting in midweek could mean a return for Ben White here, while Myles Lewis-Skelly and Viktor Gyokeres can challenge for Bruno Guimaraes’ and Kai Havertz’s places. Piero Hincapie is available again.
Everton: Manager David Moyes kept his cards close when saying “we’ve got our share” of availability issues “but we’ll keep them quiet”. That makes Newcastle:Dan Burn, Amar Dedic and William Osula have all been back training for some time, so could return to starting action. There is growing clamour for head coach Matthias Jaissle to switch to a 4-3-3 formation. That would see Joelinton, Lewis Miley and Sean Steur contesting two spots alongside Nico Gonzalez in midfield. If not then Joe Willock and Yoane Wissa could come back into play as potential No 10s. The right wing is an issue with Anthony Elanga only fit for the bench and Matias Fernandez-Pardo battling illness. Hull: Ryan Giles lost his place to Brooke Norton-Cuffy in last weekend’s defeat against Fulham. He may be recalled, while Lucas Herrington will expect to continue in place of the injured Nobel Mendy. Lucas Gourna-Douath and Mohamed-Ali Cho could be options after absences, while Robinio Vaz has trained all week after a nasty whack on the leg last time out. Joe Gelhardt will challenge Sorba Thomas’ spot. Is this the week Tim Iroegbunam earns a start? Brentford: Brentford will be without Yehor Yarmoliuk and Vitaly Janelt after both men were sent off in defeat against Liverpool last weekend. Their absence means Mamadou Sangare should start, with Mathias Jensen a candidate to drop into a deeper role alongside him. Jannik Schuster did not make the squad last weekend, but should return here; whether he regains his spot off Sepp van den Berg remains to be seen. Liverpool: Head coach Andoni Iraola confirmed Bradley Barcola’s absence from Thursday training was workload management and the Frenchman is fine. Victor Munoz is a major doubt though, with Iraola suggesting it will be “difficult” for him to make this game. Dominik Szoboszlai and Jeremie Frimpong remain out, but Ryan Gravenberch is back from suspension and should start. The big question is whether the impressive Rio Ngumoha retains his place from midweek. Brighton: Brighton’s much-changed side drew a blank in Europe in midweek, but expect a return to full strength here with head coach Fabian Hurzeler confirming Diego Gomez and Maxim De Cuyper were simply rested on Thursday, not injured. An unchanged line-up from that which thrashed Crystal Palace last weekend seems probable. Jack Hinshelwood is an option, but a bench spot appears likely. Man Utd: Marcus Rashford, Ayden Heaven and Lisandro Martinez are all fighting to be fit for this. Matthijs De Ligt returned in midweek, but there must be doubts about starting twice in quick succession. Bruno Fernandes should drop back into midfield after operating as a “false nine” in midweek, while Joshua Zirkzee could start in place of Matheus Cunha. Bournemouth:AFC Bournemouth enjoyed a dream night on Thursday in the Europa League, beating Italian giants AC Milan and even managing to bring off a few key players to rest legs. Head coach Marco Rose must now decide whether to keep faith with that side or bring back his league regulars. Ben Gannon-Doak and Bafode Diakite could be the two to miss out, while it is not known whether Justin Kluivert can start two games in quick succession. Lewis Cook and Ryan Christie can battle for one spot. Junior Kroupi could get his first minutes of the season.Hull v Brentford predicted line-ups
